A new franchise has taken the top spot in the primary girls’ magazine market for independents, the latest figures have revealed.
DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls magazine has knocked long-running leader Disney Frozen from the top of the sales rankings for independent stores, according to Smith News’ data.
Distributor Seymour told RN national sales of the Egmont title have increased by 16% since the magazine’s launch in October.
Egmont publisher Jo Doubtfire said: “We are all delighted. Not only with the stellar launch, but the continuing success of Trolls Magazine.
“Trolls has proven that it is not just a flash in the pan brand but has all the hallmarks of a long- running and evergreen franchise. Dreamworks has exciting plans for Trolls over the next few years and we are looking forward to working with it to continue creating a vibrant and engaging magazine.”
Independents account for 20% of the total sales of the title.
