Computer game sensation Minecraft is to make the leap onto the newsstand after Egmont announced plans to launch a magazine.

The kids’ publishing specialist has revealed that it will introduce All About Minecraft from September as the game, which allows players to create their own virtual world, continues to boom.

Egmont will be hoping that the brand can follow the success of Moshi Monsters, which became a top 30 magazine after spinning off from an online game.

Minecraft is thought to have as many as 50 million players worldwide and has expanded through smart phone versions.

Egmont has acquired rights to publish books and magazines linked to Minecraft globally outside of the USA.

Despite its track record in kids’ magazines including Ben 10, We Love Pop and Thomas & Friends, the publisher said it hoped the title would appeal to all ages.
