Children’s is one of the most vibrant magazine sectors and publishers continue to invest in the category with new launches and significant promotional activity.
Of the 100 best-selling magazines (according to Audit Bureau of Circulations figures released in August), 29 are children’s titles.
Recent major launches include Immediate Media’s Skylanders Universe magazine, launched 29 October; DC Thomson’s 110% Gaming, launched 15 October; and Egmont’s Play & Learn, launched 7 October.
Often combining highly-recognisable brands and free gifts with educational content, children’s titles are appealing to both children and parents.
Tie-ins with popular television and gaming brands, such as Peppa Pig, CBeebies and Skylanders, help to increase sales on the newsstand.
