Mondelez unveils limited-edition Cadbury Wispa Gold Hazelnut flavour

Wispa is Cadbury's third-biggest brand, and hazelnut is second-biggest flavour in overall chocolate category

Mondelez has unveiled a new limited-edition Hazelnut flavour Cadbury Wispa Gold chocolate bar.

The new flavour will be available to retailers in a single 48g bar from September, with an RRP of 69p.

According to Mondelez, the Wispa brand is the third-biggest within the Cadbury range, after Cadbury Dairy Milk and Cadbury Twirl.

The supplier hopes the new flavour will help drive sales, with Wispa Gold growing by 23.5% in the last year, and hazelnut as a flavour growing 12.8% in the same period, making it the second-biggest flavour in the chocolate category.

Commenting on the new launch, Joshua Collier, brand manager at Mondelēz International, said: “Hazelnut ranked in the top tier of flavour combinations with consumers in relation to Wispa, so we are confident that this new bar will help retailers offer something new to confectionery shoppers to drive sales this year.”

Mondelez will support the release with the ‘A New Type of Gold’ campaign, which will give shoppers the chance to purchase a ‘share’ in the chocolate. Full details of the promotion will be announced on Cadbury’s UK Twitter account.
