Perfetti Van Melle launches limited-edition Mentos Candy Cane flavour
Sugar confectionery at Christmas has had a sales growth of £1.9m in 2019 compared to the previous year
Perfetti Van Melle (PVM) has launched a new festive limited-edition Mentos Candy Cane flavour, available now until the end of the year.
The festive mint is available in multipacks of three filled with 14 vanilla mint flavoured sweets, with an RRP of £1.
According to the supplier, the limited-edition mints are ideal for stockings or as a seasonal treat, as well as provide an alternative to confectionery – which has had a steady decline if 7% in value sales since 2019.
The supplier claims that sugar confectionery is rising in popularity during the festive season, with a sales growth of £1.9m in 2019 compared to the previous year. Mentos Candy Cane aims to help retailers tap into the demand and give them an opportunity to drive mint sales.
The Mentos Candy Cane mints will feature four humorous messages on the red packaging, including ‘You make Christmas sweeter’, ‘Sweetest season greeting’, ‘Peace, love & joy’ and ‘Ho! Ho! Ho!’.
Sarah Elmer, Mentos brand manager at PVM, said: “With Christmas starting earlier and earlier every year, and more competition among stores and sectors, retailers can take advantage of the surging demand for festive confectionery with this limited edition flavour.”
