They are chilled smoothies on a stick made with real fruit, which the supplier says are the first of their kind. The packs of four come with challenges and quiz questions for children to enjoy.

The launch of Frollies comes as parents are looking for healthier lunchbox options for their children, according to Kerry. The kids’ handheld yoghurt category is now worth £97m, growing by 11% compared to last year as part of the overall kids’ yoghurt category worth £412m.

Additionally, Yollies have a retail sales value of £5.5m, and have grown by 15% since the start of this year.

Sales boost for c-stores as children return to schools after lockdown

Becky Youseman, senior brand manager at Strings & Things, said: “The new launch is a really exciting development to the way kids snack and is evidence of our commitment to innovating in the category – helping to make kids’ snacking fun. We worked with [market research company] The Pineapple Lounge to develop this new product and their research unearthed that kids and parents love a snack that feels treaty yet healthy and refreshing.”

Strings & Things will support Frollies’ rollout with a £1m marketing campaign which will include TV, VOD, digital, and in-store aspects. A new TV advert will air in September, tying in with children returning to school.
