Greeting cards are the latest convenience product to be hit by a supply shortage.
Posting on social media last week, greeting cards store Halls of Llandaff warned it would be passing the price rises on greeting cards to customers following a shortage of stock.
“New stock is starting to creep back in, but it’s been subject to some scary price increases.
“We will do our best to suck some of them up ourselves, but some will be passed on,” it said.
Riverside Greetings managing director Andrew Glen added: “We’re receiving an increasing amount of feedback that there are significant supply issues in the greeting-card category.
“We haven’t ‘offshored’ our supply chain because we know our customers value flexibility, responsiveness and reliability. We have plenty of everyday and seasonal stock.”
