Pladis to double field sales visits in 2019

Pladis is to double the number of field sales visits it makes to unaffiliated retailers this year, a senior source within the company has confirmed.

Pladis is to double the number of field sales visits it makes to unaffiliated retailers this year, a senior source within the company has confirmed.

The source told RN the McVitie’s manufacturer’s frequency of sales rep visits to symbol group retailers was twice that of unaffiliated retailers. They said: “This year, Pladis wants to invest more time into making sure we balance out the number of visits we make to unaffiliated retailers.

“We want to give them as much attention as we do with retailers who are part of a symbol group.”

However, despite the lower number of unaffiliated retailer visits, store owners have praised the company’s support.

Kamal Thaker, of Stop Shop News in Edgware, who sits on Pladis’ retail panel, said: “I get very useful advice on which products to stock and the best positions to make the most of impulse purchases.”

Alongside the existing sales rep visits, Pladis offers support on merchandising and planograms through its online Better Biscuits retail initiative.

The increased support follows an exclusive RN investigation that found the number of supplier rep visits since 2015 has halved for more than 75% of retailers.
