Parcel lockers boost income for UK convenience stores

Andrew Newton of Nisa Local Colley Gate said his customers found the YEEP! lockers easy to use

More than 100 convenience stores across the UK have partnered with LockerQuest to install YEEP! parcel lockers, creating a new income stream from previously unused space.

Participating independent retailers include members of symbol groups such as Premier, Nisa, Spar, Londis, Best-one, Costcutter, Go Local, One Stop, Bargain Booze and Family Shopper.

LockerQuest enables businesses to generate additional income by installing parcel lockers in unused or underutilised space. They manage the entire process from site survey to installation and also provide ongoing account management.

The lockers offer convenient parcel drop-off and pick-up services for carriers and consumers within local communities. With no cost to install or maintain, site hosts receive a guaranteed annual income, along with the potential to attract new customers, increase sales and boost brand awareness.

Jonathan White, chief executive of LockerQuest, said: “Our site hosts, known as space partners, receive an annual guaranteed rental income for each parcel locker installed, with no costs and no impact on day-to-day operations. Space partners benefit from a single project approach, allowing multiple parcel locker brands to be installed at their sites using a single survey and approval process.

“We can provide one licence agreement for multiple locations and multiple lockers and offer one line of communication for all lockers, a single payment solution and detailed reporting. We make it easy for retailers to continually develop their locations as parcel lockers increase throughout the UK.”

Andrew Newton of Nisa Local Colley Gate in Halesowen said customers had commented on how “easy to use” the lockers were and how convenient it is to be able to collect and return a parcel at any time.

He added: “Despite being new to our site, the lockers are already very popular and are definitely helping us to attract new customers, with many people popping in to buy something from our store after picking up or dropping off a parcel. With our single point of contact at LockerQuest, the lockers were really easy to install and are maintenance free.”
