US Open newspaper extension slammed by retailers

The NFRN has since said it would be consulting with publishers on the cut-off extension

Retailers have hit back at publishers over a 30-minute cut-off extension applied last weekend, following the US Open tennis final featuring British player Emma Raducanu.

Andrew White, who delivers in and around Exeter with his Wottons Farm Dairy operation, said although the newspapers arrived within the extension period, none of them featured news of the young star’s victory.

“If I tell my customers the paper is late because they wanted to put the tennis in, and then it’s not in, what does that say?” he asked.

The NFRN told Better Retailing it would consult publishers.
