The Sun’s price rise offers a £40m benefit to the industry

News UK has said that the price rises on The Sun across the whole of the UK will deliver huge incremental sales value to both the market and to retailers.

The weekday editions of both The Sun and its Scottish sister paper have gone up by 10p to 50p.

News UK said that in the case of the former it means an extra £36.3m annually coming into the market, while it will add £4.5m north of the border.

Greg Deacon, News UK independent sales manager, said: “Combined with our marketing and sales programme, we believe we’re going to be able to deliver more revenue and sales during this busy period.”
