The cover price of The New Day is to rise to 50p from 17 March across all areas of the UK.

The move cuts short the paper’s 25p promotional price period, which Trinity Mirror said last week would be extended for a further two weeks until 28 March.

The price rise follows the recent launch of The New Day throughout Scotland on 14 March at its full 50p cover price.

Retailers will earn a 23.2% margin on each copy sold, receiving 11.6p per copy.
