News UK and Mail Newspapers are running promotions in their titles this weekend as part of their wider marketing campaigns.
The activity comes just two days before Trinity Mirror launches The New Day, with retailers set to give away two million free copies of the new newspaper on Monday.
News UK has invested £2.5m in a 12-week marketing campaign for The Sun, beginning with a token that gives customers £5 off their shop at Morrisons. The tokens will be available to collect in The Sun for 21 days from 27 February, and will be supported with a national TV advert.
The Sun will also offer free tickets to theme parks and £15 holidays at locations across the UK. From 29 February, News UK will target 10,000 independent shops with PoS packs supporting this promotion, helping drive sales and footfall over the 21 days.
Mail Newspapers is running a game card promotion – Deal or no Deal – which gives customers a chance to win a £1m cash prize. The card will be available in the 27 February edition of the Daily Mail, and the 28 February edition of the Mail on Sunday. It is part of a series of Deal or no Deal promotions, with the last one launched four weeks ago.
