Magazine promotion clubs just for independents

Are you making the most of the help you can get with your newspapers and magazines?

Distributors, wholesalers and trade associations have been proving their commitment to helping the independent sector get more from their newspaper and magazine category over the past few weeks.

Seymour Distribution’s magazine promotion club, Seymour Select, has had such success since its launch seven years ago that it is calling for more proactive retailers to sign up to the scheme. The 1,200 who currently take part have benefited from sales increases that outperform many multiple groups.

Meanwhile, Premier Club – an initiative run by Smiths News – launched the third phase of its campaign to help more than 1,000 independent retailers grow both home news delivery and shop save sales last week by providing participants with attractive offers for their customers, such as eight weeks of newspapers at half price. And on an even greater scale, the NFRN has joined forces with the Periodical Publishers Association to promote shop save scheme Just Ask and boost HND awareness through 5,000 stores.

These initiatives are all exclusive to independent retailers and are just what is needed to compete with multiples.

If you’re interested in finding out more about any of these initiatives leave a comment below and we’ll pass it on.
