The NFRN says it will work closer than ever with publishers, the supply chain and other retail groups to make 2015 the year of home news delivery.
The federation’s Store2Door delivery arm will bolster its reputation by taking on direct distribution of more regional titles through members.
They will include thousands of copies of Store2Doors regional title from February next year and talks are ongoing to extend delivery of Local World titles beyond the Bath Chronicle.
Head of news Brian Murphy said the NFRN would position its members as the first choice for delivering subscription copies of papers and magazines as well as non-news items.
The federation is also using its expertise to advise the Press Distribution Forum (PDF) on boosting HND by carrying out an industry-first survey which it will use to help shape future promotional strategies.
“We believe there are significant opportunities to further develop HND during 2015,” said Mr Murphy.
“With our growing reputation as the leading daily home delivery network, we want the industry to adopt Store2Door as the consumer-facing brand for HND.”
But Mr Murphy has also warned the trade the NFRN will monitor delivery times to safeguard the delivered copy.

One of the key aims for 2015 will be to continue to reduce incidents of late newspapers and the NFRN will work with newsagent and convenience chain McColl’s to help monitor the effect of late deliveries on sales.
Mirror Group circulation director John Howard, who chairs the PDF HND committee, said: “The PDF has always been keen to engage with HND agents.
