McColl’s beats target to open 100th Morrisons Daily

The store was opened two months ahead of schedule

McColl’s has beaten its target to open 100 Morrisons Daily sites by two months.

The site opened in Ellesmere Port in Cheshire and the chain described the franchise as a “key component” in its food to go and convenience strategy. McColl’s also described Morrisons Daily as its strongest performer across the business. If the firm meets its target of operating 350 Morrisons Daily shops by November next year, the chain will represent nearly a third of its total estate.

McColl’s chief executive Jonathan Miller said: “We are extremely excited to reach the milestone of 100 Morrisons Daily stores, giving customers access to a wider range of products, greater value and a supermarket-quality fresh food and grocery offer.

“We are redefining neighbourhood retail in the communities we serve, putting us in the best possible position to meet customer demand in the future.

“Alongside an enhanced customer offer, we have a proven store conversion blueprint that offers a strong return on investment, delivering double-digit sales uplifts and rapid payback.”
