Is preparing for the National Living Wage stopping you from investing in your store?
Nearly half of independent retailers say the impending introduction of the National Living Wage is stopping them from investing in their stores.
In RN’s latest poll, 46% of voters said that, faced with the additional costs the new law will impose on their businesses, they are already curbing investment plans.
The result comes shortly after an Association of Convenience Stores poll discovered that 62% of retailers were planning to delay store investment, 61% planned to cut staff hours, 58% said they would reduce staff numbers and 40% said they expected to have to work more hours themselves.
In our 30 October issue, we will investigate the effects of the National Living Wage on small businesses and discuss RN readers’ plans to survive it. Don’t miss it.
Don’t forget to vote in this week’s poll on whether you’ve chosen to charge for carrier bags.
