Wholesalers have increased the pace of their Brexit preparations to minimise the disruption to retailers following the UK’s departure from the EU on 29 March.
Speciality wholesaler Cotswold Fayre has established its own Brexit team to ensure it can still supply its retailers. Its chief executive, Paul Hargreaves, said: “The team is organising contingency plans. We’re holding around a month of extra stock of the products we bring in from or through the EU.“
Meanwhile, the Federation of Wholesale Distributors has engaged with government food minister David Rutley to discuss plans for a no-deal Brexit.
A source also claimed to RN that Booker is stockpiling 220,000 additional pallets of stock in Tesco warehouses.
