Women in Convenience shortlisted for Best New Conference

Women in Convenience held its inaugural event last November at the Fazeley Studios in Birmingham

Newtrade Media’s Women in Convenience initiative has been shortlisted for ‘Best New Conference’ at the annual Conference and Event Awards 2023.

The event, held on 30 June at Old Billingsgate in London, celebrates and champions everyone involved in the events industry.

Launched last year, Women in Convenience gives women working in the sector a platform to share their successes, a support network to discuss the issues unique to them, and access to the tools and knowledge to improve.

It held its inaugural event last November at the Fazeley Studios in Birmingham, giving retailers the opportunity to gain inspiration and learn from successful female guest speakers and panellists, meet like minded retailers and share experiences, discover practical solutions to everyday issues experienced in and outside the store and build a network of long-term contacts from within the convenience sector.

Commenting on the news, co-creator of the initiative, Megan Humphrey, said: “It is an absolute honour to be recognised for the work we have been doing to help better support female retailers across convenience.

“Creating a safer and more inclusive working environment is at the heart of what we want to achieve with the initiative, and for this to be acknowledged makes it feel like we are being heard and making progress.

“I’d like to thank everybody at Newtrade, our Women in Convenience partners, and independent retailers, as without them, this wouldn’t have been possible.”

Alongside Newtrade in the category are Incisive Media for its Investment Week Leaders Summit, Kisaco Research for its Regenerative Agricultural and Food Systems Summit, National Residential Landlords Association for it’s The Landlord Conference 2022, Verve The Live Agency for its 2BGBB Employee Conference and With Intelligence for its Women’s Private Equity Summit Europe 2023.
