Reach announces regional titles price rises and confirms pro rata terms

Weekday and Saturday editions of twenty-six regional titles will increase by 10p

Newspaper price rises and carriage charges

Reach PLC is to include pro rata terms for newsagents as part of its latest raft of price increases for some of its regional newspaper titles.

From Monday 29 August, Monday to Friday editions of twenty-six regional titles across Scotland, England and Wales will all increase by 10p. From Saturday 2 September Saturday editions of all titles will also increase by 10p.

Reach has confirmed that the profit paid to retailers on each copy sold will increase pro rata.

Titles affected by the most recent price rises include The Birmingham Mail, The Liverpool Echo, The Plymouth Herald, The Teesside Gazette, The Western Daily Press, The Western Mail, The Newcastle Chronicle, and The Manchester Evening News.

This week’s announcement comes after earlier in July, the publisher revealed it would increase cover prices for weekend editions of three of its national titles, slashing retailer margins.
