More than 150,000 ‘magic bags’ have been sold by 300 Nisa stores partnered with food-waste app Too Good to Go.

Retailers taking part advertise ‘magic bags’ of short-dated stock for sale at a discount through the app, with around 1,250 being sold every week by Nisa stores.

Nisa partnered with the app in 2019. The symbol group described Too Good to Go as cutting food waste while “offering a helping hand to the community by sharing cut-price products at a time when the cost of living is a concern for many”.

The figures show an increasing demand for the service in Nisa stores, with an average of nearly 3,500 bags sold per month up until August 2022, compared with more than 5,200 per month since.
