Mars Wrigley blames ‘high demand’ for shortages of up to three months

Mars Wrigley UK has blamed “high levels of demand” for a shortfall in some of its core lines. 

Several retailers told Better Retailing they haven’t been able to purchase Spearmint or Juicy Fruit gum flavours, and Bounty Chocolate for up to three months. 

Munir Butt, owner of Butts Supernews in Reading, Berkshire, said: “I’ve been told by my cash and carry that they don’t know when they are going to get them back.” 

A spokesperson for the company said: “We are experiencing high levels of demand on some of our treats.”
