Filco Supermarkets has installed EdgePoS systems across its store estate under a partnership with Henderson Technology.

The store network based in south Wales is supplied by Nisa but operates nine sites under its own brand, with more than 250 employees.

It has also installed EdgePoS Head Office at its Llantwit Major store to allow full control of all of its stores from a central location. The 36-lane project took seven weeks to complete between October and November 2022.

Darren Nickels, retail technology operations director at Henderson Technology, said: “The experienced team at Filco were looking for a progressive, future-proof, c-store EPoS system that could integrate their supplier and operations database with their EPoS platform, while at the same time coping with the demands of their busy stores.

“EdgePoS meets all these needs and our EdgePoS Head Office system allows Filco to have full control and visibility of ordering, stock control, reporting and much more from one central location for all stores. This will allow Filco Supermarkets to offer more benefits to their shoppers, including self-checkout and the upcoming launch and integration of Gander.”

Matthew Hunt, director at Filco, added: “We needed to upgrade our systems and when we were introduced to Henderson Technology by C-Store Collective, we knew we made the right decision. As well as the system being ideal for our needs, we have the comfort of knowing its origins are based in the convenience market, built by independent and company-owned retail outlets for use in their own network.”
