EXCLUSIVE: Booker and One Stop withdraw Lost Mary disposable pods from sale

A message sent to stores blamed a manufacturing quality issue

Booker and One Stop are voluntarily withdrawing their range of Lost Mary disposable pod products from sale due to a manufacturing quality issue.

In a message sent out to stores, and seen by Better Retailing, Booker confirmed 12 flavours of the brand’s BM600 line had been affected. Lost Mary is manufactured and exported to the UK by Elfbar.

The flavours include Blueberry, Blue Razz Ice, Blueberry/Sour Raspberry, Cotton Candy, Double Apple, Kiwi Passion Fruit Guava, Mary Bull Ice, Pink Lemonade, Strawberry Ice, Triple Mango, Triple Melon, and Watermelon Ice.

Similarly, One Stop sent notices, seen by Better Retailing, on 17 Feb asking stores to withdraw the above lines. The notice stated the withdrawal was due to a “legal” issue, which Better Retailing understands is related to incorrect labelling on packages. An affected store owner said: “Lost Mary isn’t a major seller for us, but this latest recall does create concern about the impact on consumer confidence.”

Last month, Elfbar was exposed for selling non-compliant disposable products, and was forced to voluntarily withdraw its ‘600’ line from the UK market.

At this stage, retailers from Nisa, Bestway and Spar had told Better Retailing they had not received withdrawal notices from their symbol groups.
