Dessert brand Creams enters convenience sector

The café soft-launched over the Easter weekend, and is operating inside Park Garage Group’s (PGG) Scott Lane store in Lancashire

Dessert brand Creams has launched a food-to-go concession stand in a Wigan-based forecourt, marking a UK first.

The café soft-launched over the Easter weekend, and is operating inside Park Garage Group’s (PGG) Scott Lane store in Lancashire.

PGG’s head of operations, Ian Crawley told better Retailing: “We approached Creams as we previously had a Greggs within the store prior to us purchasing the site and it was closed down with an empty space, therefore we wanted to do something different. Creams were very keen as we’re located in a key area for them to grow.”

He said the addition of Creams has driven the store’s food to go aspect. “We already have a Subway within the store which has recently been refitted,” he said. “We received brilliant feedback of the quality of the brand on the launch day from schools and locals in attendance.

“Since our soft opening on Easter Sunday, sales within Creams are rising every week.”

Ian McKeown, AF Blakemore & Son’s channel controller, shared that he is proud to be a partner of PGG.

“This new addition to the store’s proposition with its tempting grab-and-go menu will no doubt further delight Park’s customers. Yet more customer centric thinking by this excellent forecourt chain.”
