DIY giant B&Q is the latest chain to move into the convenience market, with plans to open “dozens of convenience stores” in urban locations.
The Telegraph reports two central London sites are due to open under a B&Q Local fascia in early 2023. Depending on their success, the retailer is looking at around 50 potential areas for a rollout of the new convenience format.
He said the stores would stock “generic” DIY “bits and pieces”, feature services for planning and buying kitchen refits and enable customers to place orders for larger or more niche lines for next-day delivery.
