Investment falls in ACS 2019 Local Shop Report

Convenience stores have topped the preference of services that have the most positive impact on a local area, according to a new report by the ACS

The Community Barometer report, published last week, revealed seven out of 10 consumers would prefer to see investment in their local neighbourhood, compared to just three out of 10 who would prefer investment in nearby towns or city centres.

Convenience stores were ranked as the top local service, followed by pharmacies and post offices. Convenience stores polled the most positively with consumers in the 55-to-64 age group.

ACS chief executive James Lowman said: “This shows people want safe local neighbourhoods with vibrant established businesses.”
