Nisa to axe more Heritage products

This latest wave of cuts will affect 34 products across fresh and grocery

Nisa is to axe a further 34 fresh and grocery lines from its own-label Heritage range as the “viability of many products has become increasingly challenged.”

This final cut, which follows an initial wave of more than 150 in May, will happen at the end of August and affect products such as Heritage Cumberland Sausages and Heritage Blueberry Muffins.

The delisted products can be replaced by alternatives from the Co-op own brand or a major brand. Heritage products which cannot be substituted remain unaffected.

The deadline to place orders for affected products is 21 August for chilled, and 28 August for ambient.

A message sent by Nisa to retail partners, and seen by Better Retailing said: “The viability of many Heritage products has become increasingly challenged.

“As first explained in May, whilst Co Op sales over the past year have grown, the viability of many Heritage products has become increasingly challenged.  We have decided to exit Heritage in a number of categories where the customer need can be covered by either a Co-Op product or another branded product in the category.”

Better Retailing has contacted Nisa for further comment.
