Retailers are set to benefit from point-of-sale material to highlight key issues of Empire magazine as it launches plans to celebrate its 30th anniversary year.

Over the next 12 months, the title will feature interviews with legendary film directors such as Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese and Katherine Bigelow, and the first major-award-nominated black female director, Ava DuVernay. January’s issue features Titanic director James Cameron.

“For the January and February issues, we are working with the top 1,500 independents to drive sales in line with the initial awareness drive on Empire 30,” said publisher Bauer’s marketing manager, Dave Clark.

Clark added that while plans for 2019 were yet to be finalised, help will be on offer to support key issues in 2019.

“We will be looking to send point-of-sale to a large number of bestselling independent stores to get the key issues of Empire front of fixture,” he said.

Clark also confirmed distributor Frontline will be carrying out store-specific ranging in 1,300 independent stores to identify the bestselling and most relevant titles in their area.
