Diageo sales up thanks to premium brands

Guinness, Gordon’s and Baileys have helped Diageo grow net sales of 7% according to the manufacturer, following the release of its half-year results

Guinness, Gordon’s and Baileys have helped Diageo grow net sales of 7% according to the manufacturer, following the release of its half-year results.

Charles Ireland, general manager at Diageo GB, Ireland and France, said: “We have had a strong six months in GB. We’ve continued to focus on our priorities and brands such as Guinness, Gordon’s and Baileys.”

Results also showed an 8% increase in total net sales of Guinness, driven by Guinness Draught and Hop House 13.

Donna Phillips, of Bargain Booze in Porthcawl, said Gordon’s Premium Pink gin was very popular after Christmas.

“We currently have it on offer for £14.99, and it’s been selling more. For us, Guinness Draught sells better than original Guinness because it’s cheaper,” she said.
