Brookfield Group to run marathons to raise £30,000 for charity

The Brookfield Group is raising money for disability sport charity Get Kids Going!

The Brookfield Group is aiming to raise £30,000 for disability sport charity Get Kids Going! by participating in both the Boston and London marathons this April.

Two members of the group, Aziz Patel and Maksud Valli Patel, completed the Boston Marathon on 21 April. A nine-member team from the business will also take part in the London Marathon on 27 April.

So far, the company has raised nearly £5,000 through JustGiving donations. A further £4,000 is expected to be added through funds raised in-store across six Brookfield Group locations, with the support of Co-op Wholesale’s registered charity, Make A Difference Locally (MADL).

MADL generates funds in partner stores through the sale of Co-op and Heritage own-label products, with a percentage of each sale allocated to a virtual fund that retailers can then donate locally.

Get Kids Going! Supports disabled children and young adults by providing specially designed sports wheelchairs and equipment, enabling them to participate in a range of sports, including athletics, rugby, skiing and tennis.

Ismail Patel of the Brookfield Group said: “We’re not just running for medals – we’re running to give children a chance to dream, compete, and thrive. Every step we take is for them.”

Kate Carroll, social value lead at Co-op Wholesale, added: “Their passion, dedication, and drive to make a difference is truly inspiring.”
