AG Barr launches Ka Remix RTD range

The four-strong range aims to capitalise on the simultaneous growth of RTDs and rum in the UK

AG Barr is expanding into the alcoholic ready-to-drink (RTD) category with the launch of the Ka Remix range.

A new direction for the soft drinks brand, Ka Remix is a white rum-based RTD in a 330ml can with a 6% ABV.

It is launching this month in wholesalers including Booker, Bestway and Dhamecha in Black Grape, Fruit Punch, Pineapple and Karnival Twist varieties.

The launch of Ka Remix comes as the RTD category is now worth £645m, up by 8% year on year. Additionally, rum is the UK’s second-fastest growing spirit in the off-trade and is served in a third of on-trade cocktails in the UK.

Lucy Henderson, marketing director at AG Barr, said: “Long drinks are a booming part of the RTD category and we know mixing an iconic soft drink will help deliver profits for retailers – bringing new shoppers into the category, as well as delivering a hit of nostalgia for existing RTD drinkers.

“We wanted to create a new offering that brings fresh energy to the category, providing excitement and diversity, while tapping into the taste preferences of today’s drinkers and we think KA Remix is the perfect combination.”
