Deliveries from Booker's Hampshire warehouse have been disrupted after an Ocado depot on the same industrial estate caught on fire.

Retailers served by the Walworth Business Park depot received an email from Booker informing them they would receive no deliveries on 7 February. The email also stated there would be no alternative options available. Suppliers Twinings and Abel & Cole also have warehouses on the industrial estate.

A Premier retailer nearby the warehouse told RN his deliveries have not been impacted as his stock is supplied from Booker’s Eastleigh depot. “I think it will mainly be Londis and Budgens retailers will have had disruption to their supply.”

Firefighters were called to the Ocado warehouse in the early morning on 5 February to tackle the blaze. An evacuation of the site was conducted by police on 6 February due to concerns of pressurised refrigerants being on the site.

The removal of the refrigerants has been completed, while local residents and workers are now also able to access the area.

A Booker spokesperson said: “Colleagues were evacuated from our distribution centre on Wednesday in Andover due to a fire at the neighbouring Ocado site. The exclusion zone was lifted on Thursday morning. Therefore, we are working hard to limit the impact for our customers and we apologise to them for any inconvenience this may cause.”
