Raj Aggarwal – Londis, Leicestershire

“As an independent retailer we try to go one step further in the service we provide to our customers. I have taken a course in fine wines because we sell good quality wines which can cost £30 a bottle. Customers don’t mind spending a lot of money on wine if they know what they are buying is good quality. An added awareness helps to sell products.

“Londis provides a measure of training which helps with customer service. Often it is the finer details of customer service that makes a big difference, such as simply saying ‘have a nice day,’ to a customer as they leave. Some time ago we thought it would be good to have an ATM machine. Now we are doing 5,500 transactions a month from our ATM.

“We believe that by providing a good service we are giving something back to the customer. We also sell local produce obtained from Chapels Fine Foods, such as pies, meats and sausages.”
