Raj Sathi – RSS News, Kent

Raj Sathi and his wife decided to take on the recession rather than cut back, a tactic that worked to their advantage as customers kept coming back for more of the great deals on offer. Understanding the deals your customers are after and, crucially, how to advertise them, is essential in running a successful store.

“During the economic downturn we have had credit crunch deals across the store, where prices have been frozen in each section for a year. We have been selling packs of six beers for £5 and this is clearly advertised on laminated posters in the window. Inside the shop pallets of beers have been piled up to create eye-catching displays, which can automatically be seen when customers enter the store.

“Rather than moan about the credit crunch we have taken it on, because people want value for money and customers are coming back time and again.”
