“I keep my staff motivated by giving them as much responsibility as I believe they can handle, freeing management of the more mundane duties, so we can focus on steering the business. I have also discovered that setting staff targets and providing a gift as a reward, such as alcohol or a luxury box of chocolates, motivates them.
“As a team we wear uniforms at all times which include black trousers and a company badge. I believe that providing uniforms for staff creates a professional look, which attracts customers.
“There is a notice board in the staff room which helps the team to be aware of developments taking place in the company. During our regular staff meetings we tend to focus more on industry developments, which are often highlighted in the trade press.”
