Vaenssa Griffiths supports her local community in a variety of ways that help not only her business’ reputation, but also improves the visibility of the store in her community. From stocking locally supplied goods, to sponsoring the local football team, Vanessa’s efforts saw her nominated in the 2009 IAA awards for Service to the Community.
“Our store supports local suppliers and we stock runner beans, kidney beans, goose and duck eggs, beers, honey and sausages. The response to the local foods has been excellent and our customers are willing to travel a 10 mile radius to buy our products, particularly gammon joints. We also provide a delivery service for locals, particularly those who live on the hills and who are house bound.
“We have had a £70,000 shop refit recently, which has included providing a ramp for wheelchair access. We also sponsor a local football team and encourage the children to come in store and sell their local produce to learn how to interact with customers.”
