Sunder Sandher goes by the motto ‘less can mean more’, and he uses this thought process across his Londis store’s range – something that saw him nominated in the 2009 IAA Awards for Effective Ranging.
“To provide an effective range it is important to get rid of slow lines and to increase space for those that sell rapidly. Our motto is ‘less can mean more sales and profits’. For example in the past we sold a range of pet food, but have reduced these to stock Whiskas six pack and these are selling much better.
“We have also stopped stocking some confectionery, while increasing the number of lines among the more popular brands, such as Mars and Twix. Following the launch of Lucozade shots we erected a chrome stand near the till, because we wanted this product to be in a good position.”
