Darren Bennett of Matlock, Derbyshire, is a retail innovator. His keen adoption of technology including photocopying machines and in-store ATMs helped him become a finalist in the Retail Innovation category in the 2009 IAA.
“My store competes with local supermarkets and so we have developed a strategy to get as many locals as possible to our store,” says Darren.
“For example, we have introduced a new cash machine in-store which provides free withdrawals and a value range, which has become very popular and increased sales by 43 per cent since February. We have invested in technology, such as a digital photocopier, which allows customers to use their memory cards and provides prints at 35p a copy.
“The store increased the services we provide to our customers by providing a passport machine.”
