Daniel Cock – Whitstone Village Stores, Devon

“We are very keen on selling local produce which we brand through our own advertising material,” says Daniel Cock of Whitstone Village Stores, Holsworthy.

Daniel was a finalist in the In-Store Theatre and Marketing to Customers categories at the 2009 IAA Awards, and he says that his own advertising materials were key in helping promote his range of local produce.

“This has successfully distinguished these products from other brands in store. We also have various Booker promotions and frequently link product sales.  For example, last Christmas we had a special ‘buy one get one free’ promotion on spirits, which include free lemons and limes and which was presented in huge barrels around the store.

“Our sales last year doubled compared to the previous year when we used this special display. This year we are promoting Christmas products early and using newsletters and shelf and aisle end displays. Recently we introduced an in-store loyalty scheme, as a way of expressing thanks to our customers.”
